Who was the first US police officer killed in the line of duty? When and where did it take place? By US police officer, I mean any active-duty police officer working for any force in the US post-constitution.

Well, just about any police academy can tell you this one. That would have been on January 3rd, 1791 when Constable Darius Quimby was killed while trying to enforce a trespassing warrant on a certain Whiting Sweeting in Albany County New York. Sweeting was tried and convicted for the murder and hung at the gallows later that year in August.
