How do I improve my accuracy in reading comprehensions when the passages are difficult and long?

I would attack your challenge from two areas:

1) I would break the passage up into smaller parts. Read each part two or three times first, then read the passage once in its entirety.

2) After doing #1 (above) reread the passage and write a short (one or two sentence) summary next to each paragraph or group of paragraphs.
