What are some fun ways to teach reading comprehension?

I feel students need to stay active while reading. I encourage some type of note taking; Venn diagram with colorful markers, column note taking, drawing pictures with events, and so on. Active listening or reading is key for better comprehension. Other methods available too depending on how you learn best.
