Hard facts have only one answer. Soft facts are beliefs, opinions and emotions.
Example of a soft fact: Bill loves tools. He wanted a drill, but it cost too much
Example of a hard fact: The drill cost $79.95.
Knowledge of hard and soft facts are important in reading comprehension because it gives you a little more insight into what you are reading.
