This means that the patient's lymphocyte count is low when reported by a machine. This can occur after a cold or another infection, or be caused by intense physical exercise, severe stress, or malnutrition. A low level can also be a sign of a condition known as lymphocytopenia. Lymphocytopenia is not a condition to be treated in of itself, rather, the provider will look for the cause of the low lymphocytes and treat that.
