There is no right or wrong way to do it. The writing process is fluid, and works different for everybody. The key here is self-awareness. Luckily, you seem to already have an idea of what works well and what doesn't work well for YOU. If you were able to overlook small errors, then I would suggest that you continue writing and then edit later. However, since you have stated that you find errors annoying and they make it harder to continue, then I would suggest checking on those as quickly as possible. Perhaps try breaking your writing into smaller chunks, just to help get ideas on paper/in a document. At the end of each chunk, look for pieces that require more research, do said research, and continue writing. Hope this help!
