It seems like "Little Diane necklace" is actually the title of the photo, therefore it would not normally have a full stop period. In order to differentiate it from the more detailed full sentence description, you could either have a return after the title, or use a dash. Some digital captioning uses the full stop in order to make sure that the title is separated from the description sentences, but this is a platform structure choice.
ex:
(1)Little Diane Necklace - The photograph of the young Diane was taken after a polio vaccination and appeared in the local newspaper. She smiles bravely into the camera to reassure other children.
(2)Little Diane Necklace
The photograph of the young Diane was taken after a polio vaccination and appeared in the local newspaper. She smiles bravely into the camera to reassure other children.
(3)Little Diane Necklace. The photograph of the young Diane was taken after a polio vaccination and appeared in the local newspaper. She smiles bravely into the camera to reassure other children.
Because the description uses complete sentences, a full stop must end the final sentence. Also, all of the words of the title should follow standard title rules of capitalization.
