English BA, copy editor and proofreader can improve your writing!
British and European convention places Day/Month/Year
American convention places Month/Day/Year
When these are written out there is no confusion, for example: 13 June, 2019 or June 13, 2019 are both equally clear. However, when using only numerals people may be unclear if there is only one or two digits in each place. 13/6/19 must be June 13th because there is no 13th month, but 1/2/19 could be read as January 2nd or February 1st, hence the confusion.
If reading out loud, "13 June" would be either "the thirteenth of June" or transposed by convention to "June thirteenth". I agree the variable conventions are awkward, but the most important thing is clarity! As long as the information is communicated accurately, you should be fine.
