suiye is right, and that way is probably even quicker, but another way to arrive at the answer is to set up an equation

four consecutive integers: x, (x+1), (x+2), and (x+3)

sum them up and get 86

x + x+1 + x+2 + x+3 = 86

now solve for x, the smallest one

4x + 6 = 86

4x = 80

x = 20

so the numbers are 20, 21, 22, and 23

20,21,22,23. the way to approach this is divide 86 by 4 you will get 21.5. You need intergers, so you can starting at 20 or 21 and increment by 1 to see if they sum up to be 86.
