The equation is h = -16t2 + 24t + 3 ; it's a quadratic equation
some pointers on how to graph this equation;
1) The graph is an inverted parabola
2) t is graphed on the x-axis; and h is graphed on the y-axis
3) It has a h intercept of +3
4) If you put h = 0, and solve the quadratic equation using the quadratic formula, you will get the curve cutting the t axis at t = 1.62, and - 0.116 seconds
5) If you take the limit of this function as t approaches + or - infinity, you will find on both occasions that h goes to negative infinity
6) using the completing of squares method or differential calculus, you get a maximum value of h as 12 ft and this occurs at t = 3/4 seconds; hence (3/4, 12) is a local maximum point.
With these six points you can plot the graph;
four points on the graph are (0, 3); ((1.62, 0); (-0.116, 0) and (0.75, 12), at which time both legs of the graph slopes towards negative infinity in the h direction.
Hope this helped you. If I had graphics on this software I would have been able to be more graphic with my explanation. If you have queries please feel free to message me.
