How can pride and stubbornness be admirable qualities? Please explain.

Pride in someone or s0mething is a wonderful attribute. When a father says to his child, "I'm so proud of you," he is speaking the language which expresses his love for the child. Likewise, when a mother says, "I'm so proud of what you did," she is saying, in effect, "Wow!" Stubbornness can also be a good thing as well because it indicates an unwillingness to buckle under pressure or just follow the crowd. When my son, while at college, refused to go out to get drunk, his roommate, one of the biggest drunks on campus, told him, "You're very lucky that you are so stubborn, that you don't just follow what everyone else does."
