I'm writing a letter to a friend. Is "...but here we are today. You entering your junior year, and I, a year your senior." proper english?

I don't really have a description. I've just been writing this letter for hours and couldn't recall the proper way of saying it.

Here we are today, you are entering your junior year, and I am entering my senior year.

How about something more informal?  For example,"Today as you enter your junior year, I begin mine as a senior" is warmer and relaxed.  Only you know which voice to use because only you know the intended reader!  Good luck.

This is not proper English.  There should be a conjunction word between "you" and "entering".  You need to review the part where you wrote, "and, I, a year your senior".
