Hi Christopher,
I would say that as a person that has read the first book and seen the movie of the second is that these imaginative worlds give a depiction of what would happen if greed were let loose in the world. Another point would be the struggle between good and evil as well as being able to get lost in another world that may be very different from one's very own as it pertains to a child or adult reader. The fact that a child can read these type of books is a credit to the child of these past few generations being able to relate or understand the underlied struggles of the characters. As well as the message of that the author is trying to convey that anything is possible and that the themes of life are seen everywhere and the most obvious is almost never considered. We all inherently want to believe in good versus evil as well as that there will be some golden haired child or person that can save us from our flaws or the travesty of the outside world. I have enjoyed English as well as all of these books as well as my daughter as young as second grade. So this is a testament that the last few generations of children are really thinking on a different plane then the last few generations. I hope this gives you food for thought in order to revise your statement. Happy Easter
