My love for reading and learning lead me on the path to teaching. I enjoy talking to a student about what they have read, finding a new book for them to discover and helping students connect their everyday life to what they have learned in school. I have taught different levels of elementary and middle school. This has made me aware of the struggles students face when reading, writing and learning the foundations of math.

I enjoy working with students one on one and in small groups to help them understand the material whether it is working on math facts, understanding vocabulary in a story or thinking of how their real life can be applied to a piece of writing they need to create.
I obtained my Bachelor's degree from University of Illinois and my teaching certificate as well as Master's degree in Education from Rockford College. My certification is in K-9 Elementary with endorsements in Social Studies, ESL and Spanish. I enjoy learning and helping students feel successful in areas that may be a bit challenging for them academically.
I will speak with you about your child's needs and conduct a few assessments to determine what areas your child needs assistance on. I will assign practice work for your student to work on the skills they are needing to improve and then conduct periodic assessments to determine how the student is progressing in his challenging areas.

I am available to work in your home or meet at a local library to assist your child in reading, writing or math basics. I encourage you to meet with me to ensure that you feel comfortable with my services.

I ask that a 12 hour cancellation policy be in place to notify me of any adjustments to your tutoring schedule. Make up lessons are always available to accommodate any adjustments you may need in the future.
