Help with an outline of a poem

Question

I was wanting to see if this was an acceptable outline to send to a teacher if this is an informal outline dealing with the poem "The Man He Killed." I did it, but I do not know if maybe I should add a few more things or not.

• Metaphor
• Themes
II. Rhymes
• ABAB rhyme scheme
III. Themes
• Warfare
• Consciousness
• Remorse

Hey Angel..

That's a good start. If I were the teacher here I'd also be asking, What is the actual "reaction" you are focusing on? Is it remorse? or shock, anger, sadness, grief..something else?? Make that the focus of your paper.

Poems are not just mechanical exercises. They are often meant to illicit emotional reactions in readers, or listeners. I like to tell my students that poems are like a blend of music and words.
