B is definitely the correct choice here. As Terrence noted, pay close attention to context clues in each of the sentences. In sentence B, those clues are in phrases such as "life back home." "BACK" is the keyword here, which makes sense in context anyway, because we know that astronauts start life on Earth before traveling into space and "back" again.
Sentence C would have made sense had it read: "Astronauts have a hard time adapting the first time they experience life without gravity." Instead, it uses "readapted," which directly contradicts the phrase "the first time." Since the prefix "re" tells us that a specific action has ALREADY been completed at least once in the past (think of words such as: return, rewrite, rerun, rethink, etc...), it will NOT be used referring to someone or something's very first time.
