The cultural influences of our senses effect a sese of memories of sweet or sour, hot or cool, as well as our perception of color, light or dark, and of dry or wet. According to structural linguists the traditional Navajo tribal member does not have a clear separation of the future tense; the idea of the future remains a mystery. Some German linguists classify headcheese as delicious. When I served a friend from Marburg, a northern German, he sneered at the gift as if I were insensible as to what a pleasant treat meant. A can of savory Almond Paste, painted a beautiful color for Lebkuchen would a special delicacy! What about my mother devouring sour cream and red herring?

Because my mother's cultural taste's were originally from the Baltic North Sea, or Nord See, her cultural roots were from Old Prussian, and I traced her descendants to Old Prussian, near former East Berlin, and site of fish market , where raw herring, shrimp, and crustacean s were delicacies Koenigsberg, Germany, located near author of "Effi Briest", Fontaine, writes of 19th century Prussian military officer's code of honor---dueling for adultery. The taste is both filled with old moral taboos and the Proustian memory of a delicacy, the memory of my mother's raw herring in sour cream.
