What is wrong with this sentence?

I did not ask that you pay for the meal.

That is miraculous. You must be thorough. I would not have caught that error while reading.

In Addition, because "that" is a demonstrative pronoun, "that" should not be used after a verb. A prepositional phrase should come next, except in reference to "I would like 'that' one."
