William Shakespeare, a 16th century poet, dramatist, and maven of human behavior would analyze Macbeth in terms of character flaws, including greed or avarice, pride or hubris, a desire for power, and tragedy results. The king does not recognize Macbeth's bravery; so Macbeth breeds a jealous. murderous rage, spurred on by a ruthless, greed, desire for revenge and retribution. Moreover, Lady Macbeth, a termagant, or nagging wife, wants more power, riches, like the brave knights that are justly rewarded for their loyalty and bravery from their king who recognizes and gives out gold rings, fine titles, and royal orders as well as swords to his thanes for their ethos of their comitatus; however, she wants more, and like her husband she is enraged at the sleight. But then Lady Macbeth grows mad. Finally, when she sees actual red blood after their assassination, she becomes crazy, and she cannot wash the sinful blood from her hands after the murders. Tragedy results from fatal flaws.
