How is the dative case used typically? How are linking verbs?

The dative case resembles what grammatical function in English?

According to definitions of cases, one must analyze the function of the element. An example is She is pretty. The subject pronoun, she, is the main actor or noun in this sentence. "Is" refers to a linking verb, so She and "pretty" are linked in an isomorphic function, and they are matched as the same element. Therefore, She can be switched with pretty. "Es geht" means "It goes." "Mir" is "to me" that refers "It goes to me well." I feel well.
