Whereas RT-PCR is specifically made for amplifying RNA—typically cDNA that has been synthesized from mRNA—PCR amplifies DNA directly.
When it comes to monitoring gene editing, RT-PCR is clearly superior to conventional PCR. Researchers can evaluate alterations in gene expression brought about by gene editing treatments using RT-PCR. Studying mRNA levels, alternative splicing events, and differences in RNA transcripts are areas in which it is especially helpful. RT-PCR is the method of choice for examining the functional impact of gene editing at the transcriptional level because it can analyze RNA.
