The first thing you want to try is to look for a helping verb and then move that helping verb to the front of the sentence. For example, "The boys have written a story" becomes "Have the boys written a story?"Second, look for a being verb such as is, are, was, were, am. Move that to the front if you have one. "We are hungry." becomes "Are we hungry?" If neither of those exist you can add does, do, or did to the sentence. In your example, this would be the best choice and would then make your sentence "Does Steven try very hard to please his wife?"
