Hello! I am a former Preschool/PreK teacher and administrator, and I typically work with elementary students. I specialize in reading and writing intervention along with math. I also work with preschool students to prepare for kindergarten. I am member of the National Tutor Association and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham reading method.
I am a mom of two grown children, and I homeschooled both of them for part of their education. I have been a tutor for many years and enjoy working with children online and in-person. I believe children learn best with hands- on activities that engages the whole child and a patient and loving teacher. I look forward to working with you!

I have an Early Childhood Education degree from Ashworth College and have a reading certification to supplement my years of teaching this age group. I have extensive experience teaching phonics, phonemic awareness, and early reading skills that will help to prepare your child for elementary school. Currently I am a high impact early literacy tutor for school districts and tutor individual students after school in all subject areas for grades PreK through grade 5.

I have taught, early writing skills and handwriting for many years. I also have experience homeschooling my children who are both now excelling at the college level and also for another family who utilized my teaching skills during COVID lockdowns last Spring and this Fall.

Early reading is my favorite part of teaching. I have studied phonics teaching techniques and worked with a mentor while teaching to develop my techniques.

As a homeschool teacher, I am familiar with aligning curriculum to Common Core. I work with several homeschool curriculums and reference Common Core Standards so that I am certain we are covering all areas and I supplement work if there are any gaps. I also can give advice to homeschool parents on activities that will cover Common Core standards.

I have knowledge of many entrance tests such as IMSEE, SSAT, and NWEA. I have coached many students through the preparation process for these and other major tests. While working with students to prepare for these tests, we focus on vocabulary work, writing skills, comprehension, and math by using practice tests and other tools to ensure the student is properly prepared for these tests. Excellent teacher!

Ms Kelly is wonderful! She just started teaching our 1st grader math and reading/spelling. She is very patient and makes learning process fun! She keeps our son engaged and makes sure that he understands everything before they move to the next topic. We can’t wait to see the progress that our son will make with Ms Kelly’s support! Our daughter has only been with Kelli for 3 sessions so far but in that time she has given us meaningful insight and has tailored an approach specific to her. My daughter has also enjoyed working with her as she is kind and patient all while putting a focus on keeping things engaging. Overall I cannot express how satisfied we are at this time.
