Density is an intensive property, meaning it is a property of matter that does NOT depend on the amount of the matter in the sample. Gold will have a density of 19.3 g/cm3 regardless of how much of it is present.
Other examples of intensive properties include melting point & boiling point.
Contrast this with extensive properties, which are properties of matter that DO depend on the amount present present in the sample - for example: volume, mass, surface area, enthalpy, entropy, etc.
