The aftermath brought about a short-lived revolution in which the Tsar lost control of large areas of Russia. The revolution failed but it served as a serious warning of what might happen in the future. Bloody Sunday was a turning point for the Russians because it was what inspired the start of the 1905 Russian Revolution. The cruel treatment of the soldiers and unfeeling tsarist regime was enough for the peaceful protestors to turn violent and overthrow Tsar Nicholas II.
