As most everyone knows, a high-quality essay is the result of much thought, experience, and even research. After brainstorming and determining your topic, use an outline as a guideline for your flow of ideas. Emphasize your main points in the essay using strong active verbs, descriptive adjectives and transitional words and phrases.
Follow up with compelling supportive details. You may decide to format before or after completing the essay. Either way will be sufficient. Just make sure that the format you use is as your teacher/business requires and is analogous throughout the essay. A variety of well-chosen vocabulary words also make a strong essay more effective. However, sometimes when a simpler word suffices, use it. But do not use clichéd or redundant words.
Next, check for spelling, grammar, and other errors. Also, check for sentence fragments and run on sentences. It usually helps to have someone else read the essay and check for errors before submitting. Finally, enjoy the process as you develop the essay with the realization that you know more than you think or have additionally learned during the whole writing process.
I have appreciated the writing process myself and have enjoyed watching my students’ self-discovery journey in learning that they can accomplish more than they realized in their creative writing development. Creative writing is an art and with the correct guidelines it is inspiring to realize that I may help a student enjoy the proper techniques in their writing skills. I have realized that students each have something unique to contribute to their writing. I just need to be encouraging in helping them say what they suggest in a descriptive way that is true to their original ideas. If you need some extra help, you can message me, and I will be more than happy to help you discover your writing abilities.
