I am a Master Sculptor with 25 + years of experience teaching.
I have taught both mediums and the answer varies. Some people find drawing and sketching very difficult because it's about creating the illusion of perspective, form, and contours by shading. However, sculpture is about creating a real object with real dimensions, weight and proportions. It depends what you like best, and what feels more natural to you. If you already know how to draw, and know basic anatomy, you may be a natural at sculpting. You won't know until you try it. What I do know, most students love creating an object that looks and feels very real. One which you need to create space for, live amongst with it, and enjoy it from many angles. Sculpture resembles reality more than a two dimensional object. I absolutely recommend it, special if you are curious to find out how clay feels in your hands. Contact me and I will get you started with the basic tools and materials. We shall take it from there. Cheers!
