I am a Master Sculptor with 25 + years of experience teaching.
If you know how to draw, and you know basic human anatomy, you will have an edge when starting to sculpt the human figure. I don't know a better way to learn the human figure or body parts, such as a bust or even hands, than to sculpt them. Sculpture forces you to analyze, depict ,and study the body from all angles. It's such a rewarding medium. At the end, you will have created a real three dimensional form of art, not an illusion of one. Some people find sculpture more rewarding and natural than drawing. If you like to try it, contact me. I'll set you up with the basic tools and materials under $125. We can do zoom lessons or you can come to my studio if you live in the Bay Area.
Cheers!
