Come on Anika M., it's a 10:1 reduction in biomass at each stage in a food web.

Although, "support" is probably the wrong word to get the answer desired. 1000 Kg corn will enable the herbivores to gain 100 Kg of biomass. What happens to them after that is quite another matter!

When it comes to consumption and biomass, there is a 10 fold reduction in the amount of biomass passed on to the next organism on the food chain. So if you have 1000 kg of corn, only 100 kg of the total biomass is transferred to the herbivores
