- A single guiding thesis statement identifying the overall theme of each film studied all citation must follow proper MIA formatting (including film citation)
- Essay must be two to four pages in length and physically formatted correctly (MLA official: margins, font selection, Works Cited, etc.)
- Each of the two (minimum) films must be cited through the body of your essay as support of your overall interpretation of the theme as well as each sub-topic area of explication you identify as specific tools used to convey that theme.

Additionally, one unique critical source of supporting commentary (this could be a VLOG like Lessons from the Screenplay or a scholarly website) must be properly cited in support of your analysis. Critical commentary must be researched using appropriate and academically sound sources.
