A total bookworm who can't wait to share the magic of literature!
An easy rule to keep in mind for the tricky semicolon is that it marks a spot where you could have stopped, but chose to continue anyway! Let's take a look at a semicolon in action:
Epcot has to be my favorite place in the world; there are so many different foods to try there, I can just snack all day!
See? I could have stopped at "Epcot has to be my favorite place in the world." That by itself is a complete sentence, BUT, by using the semicolon I chose to continue and add an extra piece! The important part is to see that both pieces can "stand" on their own, meaning that both halves around the semicolon make sense on their own as full sentences.
Remember, when it comes to semicolons, you could have stopped but you chose to continue!
