Some aquatic plants have special adaptations to help combat their location under water. These plants produce higher amounts of chlorophyl so that they are ablate capture the maximum amount of sunlight, they utilize bicarb as their carbon source since it is plentiful in water, and they take up extra gases (O2 and CO2) to maintain their buoyancy in the water enhancing their ability to capture sunlight.
