In short Henry Lawton was influential in the realm of psychohistory and featured several times in important academic journals related to the subject. I believe the question you may want to focus on instead is the importance of psychohistory to your research as it seems to present a relatively simplistic view of civilization as constantly improving, and has faced continuous criticism over the past several decades. Further, I am not aware of any academic departments within the United States dedicated to psychohistory, even though individual classes have been offered at major universities.
