1. Is it acceptable in college writing to have 3 sides?

2. The reason I ask is because my paper covers the pros and cons permissive, authoritarian , and authoritative parenting styles. My side of the argument is the authoritative parenting style is more beneficial for children's mental, social, academic development. I want to avoid lumping permissive and authoritarian parenting styles together because they have their own sets of beliefs.

3. Is there an easier approach to writing this paper? My thesis I cam up with is "While it is true that many parents disagree on techniques used to raise children, there is an opportunity for a parent to compromise as they both share a common goal. " As I stated before my belief is in the authoritative parenting style. Is it unnecessary to have 3 sides in this case?
