For this question I found this: "it deadens, instead of sharpening, the intellect; and it excites no affection between those who practise it". (Chapter 11, page 56)

So basically, it dulls the mind rather than enhancing it, and it breeds no affection among individuals who engage in flippancy.

Would this be correct?

Again, you are correct. Nice citation of text! I think the gloss would be that Lewis views "flippancy" as a barrier. Instead of inviting conversation and the possible revision of view point, it shuts it down.
