1. Why is it a surprise that Japan is one of world's wealthiest, developed country with an outstanding economic development, compared to many other countries? How have they navigated these past two decades with such steady results? and how have they become one of the leading nations in the fields of scientific research, technology, machinery, etc? How did they go from cheap textiles to advanced manufacturing and services? Please provide a good explanation.

The Japanese people have a superb work ethic, a huge emphasis on education and a great belief in societal and familial honor. They are a prosperous society with access to excellent diets and universal education and healthcare. It is considered shameful to go on welfare and not work. Many moms dedicate themselves to their children's education, providing tutors for to ensure that their children succeed. Children go to school on Saturday mornings and clean the schools to learn responsibility. The society is very structured and individualism is not valued. Society, community and family are core values of the Japanese family, as is prosperity.
