Hi Londyn,
In math, the mean is defined as the average of the numbers. The basic formula for finding the mean of a set of numbers is to add them all up and divide by how many numbers there are. Let's make a different chart for this set of numbers.
$1: 4
$2: 5
$3: 2
$4: 2
$5: 0
$6: 0
Okay, so now that we have a different chart to help group the numbers, let's add them all up.
4+5+2+2+0+0 (yes, we have to include the 0's)
Adding all of those up, we get 13!
Okay, so now let's do the next step, which is dividing by the number of numbers in the data set. If you count ALL OF THE NUMBERS on the right side of the chart I made above, or all of the dots in the graph (but include the 0s!), you will see that there is a total of 6 numbers.
Now let's divide. We must divide the number that we got from adding, by the total number of numbers in the data set.
This is 13 divided by 6.
13 divided by 6 is 2.16, but we will round it for the sake of the multiple-choice, and say that the closest answer would be 2.15.
Just always REMEMBER! The mean is all of the numbers added up, divided by the number of numbers that there are in the data set.
Let me know if this helps/if you need any other help!
