For every 1 gallon of blue, you must have 6 gallons of yellow. This is a multiplication problem. For 2 blue, I am adding 6 yellow for each blue - having 12 total gallons of yellow paint. Hence, 1:6; 2:12; 3:18; 4:24 - these ratios represent multiples of 6.
Now there are many ways to prove and justify your answer. Here are a couple of questions to help guide your strategy.
- Let's use a couple pairs of the values given in the table to plug into the variables for the equations given (b=blue values and y=yellow values). Which equation balances out on both ends of the equal sign?
- OR Observe and identify the equations given that reflects multiplication? Hint: There's only 1 option that reflects multiplication.
These are is some ways to find your answer. Hope this helps!
