What is the "Domino Theory"?

It was an argument used to justify American involvement in Vietnam. The "Domino Theory" claimed that if South Vietnam was taken over by communists that other nearby countries would soon fall like dominoes, that Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Burma might be overtaken by communists later.
