1) Because the instructor specifically requests that you give a "personal" definition, go with your gut here. Dig into your own past experiences and think of a time you felt betrayed. What did it feel like, and why did you identify that feeling as "betrayal"?
2) The instructor again asks for an opinion here, meaning that they are not looking for a specific answer. There will not be a right or wrong response. Just answer the question and explain your reasoning.
3) See above.
4) It's important to be honest with your opinion here, too. Simply answer the question. What could be some of the negative outcomes of a representative democracy? If you live in the U.S., you live in a republic (or a representative democracy). What are some of the negatives of this system of government?
5) This is, again, a question of opinion. If you answer "fate", you likely believe that there is some sort of cosmic or even godly plan that dictates our lives. If you answer "free will", you likely believe that our lives are undetermined and only our choices can dictate outcomes.
6) This is a two-part question. First, you must express your concrete understanding of the literary term "foreshadowing". Second, you can get back into your opinion: Try to think of an instance of foreshadowing in a favorite movie or book (could even be as literal as a "flashback" or a "flash-forward") -- why and how did this moment enhance your enjoyment of the work?
