This is actually a really interesting topic in speculative history if you will. The story goes that Joan is walking in her fathers garden and she sees a blinding flash of light and then she begins to hear voices. Eventually Joan describes the voices as belong to the Archangel Michael or Saint Michael, Saint Catherine and Saint Margaret. Being an intelligent women of the time it is highly possible that she used these voices to participate in the war efforts that she wouldn’t be able to because of her gender without having the backing of God. Now again that’s not to say but it is not in the universe of all things possible but yes she really was spoken to angelic forces. However from strictly historical perspective is very likely that she was traumatized French woman who wanted to take action and knew how to manipulate the system that oppressed her.
