This is actually a really interesting topic in speculative history if you will. The story goes that Joan is walking in her fathers garden and she sees a blinding flash of light and then she begins to hear voices. Eventually Joan describes the voices as belong to the Archangel Michael or Saint Michael, Saint Catherine and Saint Margaret. All three of these saints being very prominent in the French religious practices of the time.If a person in the village were to hear that a 13-year-old girl had an experience with one of these Saints it would’ve made them pay attention. Joan we continue to have these visions and hear the voices of the Saints many times often she would describe it as being accompanied by church bells however The voices would suddenly stop if there was too much noise around or if people were nearby. I sent you with the voices told her to help the Dauphin become king. Now I won’t attempt to speak to the theology of the subject. Joan Was a victim of several traumatic events that happened in her village including murderers and mass burnings because of the the wars that were going on during the time time. Being an intelligent women of the time it is highly possible that she used these voices to participate in the war efforts that she wouldn’t be able to because of her gender without having the backing of God. Now again that’s not to say but it is not in the universe of all things possible but yes she really was spoken to angelic forces. However from strictly historical perspective is very likely that she was traumatized French woman who wanted to take action and knew how to manipulate the system that oppressed her.
