Please help ME with this question I'm really confused and I don't know what to do? :)

2.) Read the following information and answer the question below. 

The Panama Canal was built to connect the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It was completed in 1914. Since then, millions of cargo, military, and travel ships have crossed through the Panama Canal

How has the United States directly benefited economically from the Panama Canal? 

A.)	Military and expedition ships have used the canal as a coal refueling station.
B.)	Businesses have used the canal to move exports and imports efficiently.
C.)	Immigrants have crossed through the canal to find new places to settle.

With this posting, there are two questions. The format of the second question was confusing, but I am assuming it is a simple multiple-choice and not some kind of graphic organizer requiring new information in the empty boxes.

Question 1: The text is saying that the US has expanded and adapted as it has gained new grounds and new situations. For the most part, as the US expanded and settled new areas, the growth in the population has required newer lands and resources to be added.

With this reasoning in mind, I suggest that D is the proper answer.

Question 2: The statement in the box is basically stating that the Panama Canal has connected the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans to make oceangoing travel more efficient for many different purposes.

While the highlighted answer you chose is a true point. It is not an example of the information in the box. B is the better answer, in my opinion, as it points out efficiency.
