How does weaponized, manipulative language transform societal values for independence and impact personal identities?

I've a full response below and also felt moved to comment or inquire on others' answers. Clearly the words struck me powerfully. What I'd like readers to ask is, Who is it talking about? What speakers? What actions? Words are "weaponized"...is someone guilty of aggression? This vagueness in Academese has elevated fuzzy thinking, all draped in a self-righteous air of compassion. "Caring" is how many professors and students know they are right. Caring is great, but what about reasoning? We need both.

I first encountered "snowflake" in a TED talk by Jonathan Haidt. He defined it as someone who does indeed melt, but under a very specific stressor: exposure to a belief contrary to theirs. These days all kinds of vicious, aggressive, immoral, and truly dangerous uses of language are indeed current. They always have been. What's new is an under-nurtured ability to think critically, specifically, an ability to deal with opposing views in a healthy, appropriate way. I must add, a terrible catalyst in the mix is the unbelievable levels of mental illness in our country. Many people are indeed truly delicate.

Very clear. I admire the concrete examples that really make the nature of manipulation visceral. I just wonder: do you know the origin of this phrase "weaponized language"? How did you come to be familiar with it?
