The Cushites were the descendants of Noah's son Ham. They dwelled in the land of Cush, roughly Egypt and lands south, like Sudan, where Nile begins. Conversely, Mesopotamia means "Land in middle of/between rivers." The rivers are the Tigris and Euphrates, the cradle of the Sumerian civilization and later the Babylonian Empire which the Medo-Persian Empire conquered in time. Thus Cush was in Africa, while Mesopotamia was in the Middle East.
