There are plenty of cast off people from society. Miss Rosie is an excellent story about a homeless woman.
But what about the quiet kid in class? The one who is shy and different and doesn’t really have any friends? I knew a kid just like that. He was so introverted because he had been bullied, both at home and at school.
And what about the tall, muscular, dark skinned black man? Maybe he has a heart of gold, but people look at him with suspicion. People stereotype him as a criminal, as dangerous, and they are too scared to talk to him.
There are a lot of people who are sort of cast off by the shallow, racist, classist, ablest, and sexist society that we live in.
