Kenwood used to be part of an entity called Hyde Park Township, but Hyde Park Township was annexed and became part of the City of Chicago in 1889. In 1907 then it would have been served by the Chicago police department, and is now part of CPD police District 2. The year before by the way, in 1906, the Chicago Police mounted horse unit was established. The year afterwards, in 1908, the first three Chicago Police automobiles were purchased for the department.
