Which language comes near to English to learn easily?

Question

I want to learn multiple languages but looking out for nearest languages to English, only to speak. I currently speak Hindi, English, Telugu, and Urdu, where Hindi and Urdu are the nearest relatives.

English descended from Old German, hence why the sentence structure is so similar. German and English are both on the same branch of the Indo-European language family (English was heavily influenced by a multitude of different languages, including French and Latin, hence the crossover between those as well). If you listen to recordings of Old English paired with German, you can certainly hear the similarities!

English shares a much closer common ancestor with German than with Spanish or any romance languages. True, Spanish is usually not considered very hard to learn (that's my best second language), but German has far more root words in common with English, and the grammar is much closer.

Spanish is the closest to English with Italian next. If you want to be a real scholar, learn some Latin language which is no longer in use but is the basis for many, many words in Spanish and Italian. Also, it is said there is a tie-in with Sanskrit and English but I have not researched how to explore this.
