How was brand consistency maintained before computers?
The era of computers makes it easy to regulate brand consistency - you can e-mail anyone your branding guidelines in a PDF and it will have all the information they need. However, I still sometimes struggle to acquire the files I need from clients (_no, please do not fax me your logo_).I can't imagine how difficult my job would be without e-mail. How was it done? For example, if I wanted some stationery with my company's logo printed on it, what was the process like without computers? How did brand logos remain consistent without digital assistance?
Very easy and they still exist. Your answer is called a "Brand Guide". A brand guide tells you and everyone else how to do things with type logos and designs. When you look at a AT&T truck drive by and see the logo a certain size and in a specific place and the driver's shirt logo on his/her uniform and the road signs that say enter into an AT&T building all look like they belong together. I planned that and created brand guides for al the baby bells. Have a good day.
