Film Director, Poet, Screenwriter, and Author. I love creativity!
The USA used to have quite a few censorship boards ranging from covering all of Hollywood to what different states allowed to be shown, but that began to decline in the 1950s and was mostly abolished from then to the 1980s due to several Supreme Court decisions. Now the only censorship comes from within the studios themselves. Disney is an excellent example in that they will never put the Disney logo on an "R" rated film or have certain gratuitous elements show up in their films. Most commonly, censorship in the USA has to do with the individual studio's political leanings and how much they're willing to show or support the opposite opinions; however, these decisions are almost entirely made while still in development (the reason directors leave over "creative differences"). But there is no government or overarching organization that requires that all theatrical releases must meet certain criteria in the USA anymore.
