Is "Where do you sit?" correct for asking someone where their workspace is?

At work, if I had to ask someone where exactly they worked, as in where their workspace/cubicle is, what should I say? Is "where do you sit?" the usual thing to say? I'm from India and hear this phrase getting thrown around all the time. But when I look it up in context I get few results.

That's interesting, that you are from India - in Germany we'd actually phrase the question exactly the same way: where do you sit? Some might also ask where is your desk? It is a casual way of asking that depends on knowing the person you're talking to or at least having been introduced to them and being aware that they are co-workers and roughly your same level. But that seems to be the context you're describing. In a friendly atmosphere politeness is mainly a matter of tone of voice.

English is a more direct language. If you want to know where your colleague's workspace is, just ask the question like that "Where is your work space? Which cubicle is yours?". That makes your question much clearer to answer.

You approach a table to dine with a couple people:

You turn to a friend and say, "where do you sit?"

This would be a polite way of determining where your friend prefers to sit at a table.

Normally, someone would say: "where do you normally sit?"

Or, "where will you sit?"

Generally, the implication is that you want to sit next to the person you are talking to.

Now, if you are trying to find out the cubical in which someone works. You might say:

"What's your cubical?"

"Where's your desk?"
